Born and raised in the Bay Area, I carry my Korean heritage from my parent’s Seoul roots. In the heart of our home, the kitchen, was always filled with aromas of sesame, garlic, and ginger. The clinking of metal chopsticks against ceramic bowls will always fill me with nostalgia. My mother's superpower was transforming humble ingredients into masterpieces. Amidst it all, her kimchi was always a household favorite and became a symbol of our connection to Seoul and the generations before us. This marked the beginning of my kimchi journey.
During my time in Alaska with the US Coast Guard, I started crafting my own version of my mom's kimchi recipe. What began as a homesick attempt to recreate her flavors soon transformed into a full-fledged passion and marked the beginning of my journey as a businesswoman. I found myself shipping out multiple kimchi jars daily, and the demand kept growing.
Today I am stationed in Petaluma, California living in Rohnert Park with my loving husband and two amazing boys. Ji's Kimchi has become my love language, a means for me to honor my family’s heritage and share the very essence of what unites my family with yours. “From my family to yours, Seoul to soul.”
